PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for evaluating an immunity enhancing effect for a substance to be tested, a method for searching and acquiring a novel substance having the immunity enhancing effect, particularly, an antitumor substance by use of the method (screening method), and a use as antitumor agent of a substance having the immunity enhancing effect acquired by the screening method. SOLUTION: The immunity enhancing effect of the substance to be tested is evaluated by use of a method having the following steps: (1) administrating the substance to be tested to a non-human animal to measure activity of splenic sympathetic nerve of the non-human animal; and, as occasion demands, (2) determining that the substance to be tested has an immune enhancing effect when the activity of splenic sympathetic nerve of the non-human animal to which the substance to be tested is administered is reduced more than the activity of splenic sympathetic nerve of a non-human animal to which the substance to be tested is not administered.
