<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cartridge unit of an inkjet printer which has an ink feeding system connected to an ink storage compartment and a printing head. <P>SOLUTION: The ink storage compartment has a displaceable wall section. A displaceable wall is biased to expand a variable storage volume. A negative pressure is present in the ink storage volume, preventing inadvertent leakage of the ink from an ink discharging nozzle. A meniscus pins itself to an edge part of the nozzle aperture. Even when the meniscus is strong enough to stop the ink leakage, it sometimes happens that the bulging meniscus finally comes not to pin itself to the nozzle edge part to cause the leakage because of paper dust or other contaminants, or that the negative pressure in the ink storage volume reverses back the meniscus to the nozzle aperture. However, the meniscus is configured not to bulge out of the nozzle, and therefore the paper dust on the nozzle surface is hindered from breaking a surface tension to cause the leakage. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
