<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fiber with sea-island-type conjugate cross section suitable for obtaining a yarn comprising extra-fine filaments having uniform single filament diameter through suppressing the convergence of island components together. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The fiber with sea-island-type conjugate cross section is provided, wherein the sea component consists of an easy-to-dissolve polymer, while the island component consists of a hard-to-dissolve polymer. In the fiber, when the single filament is equally divided in four by drawing two straight lines going through the center of its cross section and rectangular to each other, the following relationships are satisfied: (1) 0≤Scv<10, (2) 0≤Sicv<5, (3) 0≤Rcv<15, and (4) Rmax/rx≤2 (wherein, Scv is the area variation for respective island components dispersed over the single filament's cross section; when the single filament is equally divided in four by drawing two straight lines passing the center of its cross section and rectangular to each other, Sicv is the variation of the total area of the total island components for the resulting four parts; Rcv is the spacing variation for the adjoining island components; Rmax is the maximum spacing for the adjoining island components; and rx is the average diameter of the island components).
