A method for producing ceramic optical parts which comprises a step of forming a raw material powder for a ceramic for infrared optical parts containing ZnS, ZnSe or Ge as a main component or a ceramic for ultraviolet optical parts of CaF2, MgF2, or the like, into a formed product, a step of sintering the formed product into a sintered product, and then a step of transforming the sintered product by applying heat and pressure into a sintered compact having a final shape, or a step of transforming into the one having a shape near to a final shape followed by a finishing processing. The method can be used for dispensing with a finishing processing or for reducing a margin of a material for a finishing processing, and thus for reducing the production cost, in the production of infrared and ultraviolet ceramic optical parts.
