<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a program recording device capable of locating desired scenes from many hours of recorded TV programs. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A recorder 2 records TV broadcast programs, and at the same time an index distribution device 3 creates a scene index of the programs. The scene index is information indicating time when each scene appears in the program and contents thereof. After the termination of the program, the index scene index is distributed from the index distribution device to the recorder.
