<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crystalline mesoporous titania having industrially high availability, and to provide the production method of the mesoporous titania. Ž<P>SOLUTION: (1) The crystalline mesoporous titania contains titanic acid composed of a planar crystalline structure. (2) The production method of a crystalline mesoporous titania containing titanic acid composed of a plate-like crystalline structure comprises: preparing a titanic acid dispersion liquid having a pH of not less than 10 and composed of a plate-like crystalline structure, by hydrolyzing titanium alkoxide in the presence of amines; adding a quaternary ammonium surfactant to the dispersion liquid to produce a mesoporous titania composite material containing the quaternary ammonium surfactant; and removing the quaternary ammonium surfactant and amines from the composite material.
