METHOD FOR REMOVING MOISTURE IN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE EXHAUST GAS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for removing moisture in exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine.

SOLUTION: The exhaust gas of the internal combustion engine 1 is purified by a purification catalyst 4 provided in a middle of an exhaust pipe 3. Part of the exhaust gas is branched off of the exhaust pipe 3 downstream of the purification catalyst 4 and is introduced into a heat exchanger 6. The exhaust gas is cooled and moisture contained in the exhaust gas is condensed and removed. The exhaust gas from which moisture is removed is recirculated to the exhaust pipe 3. Quantity of the exhaust gas branched off of the exhaust pipe 3 is controlled by a flow rate control valve 12 provided between a branch point branching the exhaust gas off of the exhaust pipe 3 and a merge point recirculating the exhaust gas to the exhaust pipe 3. The exhaust gas from which moisture is removed is merged to intake air of the internal combustion engine 1. Quantity of exhaust gas branched off of the exhaust pipe 3 is controlled by a flow rate control valve 12 provided at an upstream side of the merge point merging the exhaust gas to the intake air of the internal combustion engine 1. Moisture removed by the heat exchanger 6 is collected and is mixed to ethanol-gasoline mix fuel to separate ethanol and gasoline.
