<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a footstep chain tensioner device of a passenger conveyor enabling easy replacement of worn parts and capable of being operated stably for a long term. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the lower part of a shaft supporting block 14, a protrusion (an engagement margin) 19 as a sliding member engagement section is provided. The protrusion 19 is arranged so as to surround a resin sliding plate 15. In other words, a recess is formed in the lower part of the shaft supporting block 14, and the resin sliding plate 15 is fitted in this recess.
