<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a curl suppressing apparatus capable of more reducing the curl amount of a recording sheet discharged from a fixing device, and capable of suppressing poor alignment of sheets. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The curl suppressing apparatus includes: a pair of guide members 61 and 62 including a straight line section having a prescribed length L along the recording sheet conveying direction, whose counter surfaces are nearly parallel to each other and are linear in a cross sectional view; and air discharge fan devices 641 and 642 for generating an airflow flowing in a direction opposite to the recording sheet conveying direction and cooling the recording sheet passing through between the pair of guide members 61 and 62, in a part of the pair of guide members including at least the straight line section, wherein information on the thickness of the recording sheet is acquired, then, the speed of the airflow is adjusted on the basis of the thickness shown by the acquired information.
