The radiation converter (10) comprises a direct converting solid body-converter layer (11) formed in single piece and multiple rod or tube shaped electrodes (12) penetrating the solid body-converter layer in detection direction. The electrodes have both cathode (15) and anode (14), where the anode is arranged at each cathode. The cathodes and anodes form a quadratic, rhombic, or hexagonal shape in a plane running perpendicular to the detection direction. An independent claim is included for a method for manufacturing a radiation converter.
