PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically classify and retrieve digital photographs, by increasing the accuracy of subject recognition of generic objects, scenes and others on digital images with positional information (latitude/longitude) regarding the imaging location acquired by GPS. SOLUTION: In addition to an image feature of a digital image of a recognition object (subject), image features of aerial photograph images and/or map images on various scales corresponding to small areas centered about the location of imaging are used.
