PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation apparatus that prevents a delay in access to a memory and prevents underperformance of road guidance that depends on the memory. SOLUTION: The navigation apparatus has the memory, a writing means for writing road map data selected from a road map database to the memory, a determination means for determining whether the writing time T<SB>WP</SB>of the writing means is longer than a first predetermined threshold S<SB>W</SB>, and a report means for reporting that the memory should be initialized if the determination means determines that the writing time T<SB>WP</SB>is longer than the first threshold S<SB>W</SB>.
