Disclosed are novel medicaments used in the treatment or prevention of degenerative neurological disorders such as Alzheimer's disease. These are medicaments for treating Alzheimer's disease, and are also medicaments which prevent neuritic atrophy induced by amyloid ß, in which a compound represented by formula (1) isolated from the flowers of the rose Rosa damascena is the active ingredient. Moreover, these are medicaments and medicaments for treating Alzheimer's disease, and are also medicaments which prevent neuritic atrophy induced by amyloid ß, in which a straight long chain fatty acid is the active ingredient.
