Provided is an image display device which can reduce judder and weaken the reduction degree when a film signal is subjected to a frame rate conversion by using a motion compensation. When performing a video signal frame rate conversion by adding N (N is an integer not smaller than 2) interpolation frames obtained by interpolating original frames by using a motion compensation between the adjacent original frames, the video interpolation position between the N interpolation frames is set to a position nearer to the video of the original frame nearer to their respective interpolation frames than the position where the video motion size is equally divided by (N+1) between the preceding and the following original frames.
