Locking nuts and bolts.-Screw threads adapted to be capable of wedging on a coacting member on axial displacement are constructed with the bottom of the thread having a profile formed of two straight portions c, c, e, f; inclined relatively to the axis and of different inclinations, the part e, f of larger mean diameter than the part c, c having a lesser angle of inclination; the apex of the external thread member is formed with a portion g, h parallel to the axis. The corresponding internally screwed member has the bottom g<1>, h<1> of its thread parallel with its axis and the apex is formed with two equi-angular inclined parts b, d, d, e. When the two members are screwed together, the portion d, e slides up on to and makes jamming engagement with the part e, f there being a certain amount of deforming of the surfaces in contact.
