PURPOSE: A method for correcting position and speed-reduction distance of an elevator using a speed command is provided to stop the elevator car accurately at the desired position by correcting speed-reduction time regardless of response of a speed controller. CONSTITUTION: When velocity feedback at the time an elevator car starts is slower or faster than the speed command value due to occurrence of undershoot or overshoot, the undershoot area or overshoot area is obtained. The undershoot area or overshoot area is compensated for a speed reduction distance, and calculation is performed per each speed cycle to fit the speed reduction distance volume for the actual position. Therefore, the elevator car is accurately stopped.
