The invention relates to a surgical instrument (1) with two clamping jaws (5, 6) located at one end of a shaft (4) or of a grip part (2), with a bearing (7) which has a continuous bearing pin (8) and on which at least one of the clamping jaws (5, 6) is mounted so as to be able to pivot between an open position and a closed position, and with a separating means (10) that is substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the instrument (1) and can be moved into a space (9) located between the clamping jaws (5, 6). To be able to cut safely through a section of coagulated tissue, for example, the bearing pin (8) has a through-opening (11) which extends along the direction of movement of the separating means (10) and through which the separating means (10) can be engaged, wherein the greatest extent of the through-opening (11) transverse to the direction of movement of the separating means (10) corresponds at least to the dimension of the separating means (10) in this direction. |
