PURPOSE: A shifting device for an automatic transmitter is provided to simply perform a shifting operation between a forward shifting position and a backward shifting position by assigning a partial releasing state to a locking device besides a locking state and a releasing state. CONSTITUTION: A selecting lever(2) selects a shifting position in an automatic lane. A locking device is converted between a locking state and a releasing state. The locking device includes a releasing button(4) which changes a state. The locking device blocks movement of the selecting lever in the locking state. The locking device allows movement of the selecting lever in the releasing state. The locking device moves the selecting lever to a backward shifting position. The releasing button includes a first operating position which converts the locking device into a partial releasing state. The releasing button includes a second operating position which converts the locking device into a releasing state.
