PURPOSE: A hood mounting unit of a vehicle assembly line and a control method thereof are provided to absorb quality distribution by determining the hood mounting condition by vehicle BIW(Body-In-White). CONSTITUTION: A hood mounting unit of a vehicle assembly line comprises a hood carrying jig(30) and a hood mounting jig(40) which are arranged on the left and right sides of the vehicle assembly line including a conveyor(10). The hood carrying jig loads a hood to be mounted on a BIW transferred by the conveyor. The hood mounting jig comprises an alignment unit which sets vertical and horizontal clamping positions.
