PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slot die coater which can form a resin layer having a uniform thickness without producing any stripe-like coating unevenness that may adversely affect image display characteristics in an image display unit even if the resin layer is coated by using a resin solution of a low viscosity of less than 10 mPa s to form the resin layer constituting an optical function film used for the image display unit or the like. SOLUTION: Supposed that the curvature radius R of an inner surface chip side of a downstream die lip 12 of the slot die coater 1 is 0.005 [mm] or more, and the distance between the chip of the upstream die lip 11 and a base material film 11 is D<SB>1</SB>[μm], the distance between the chip of the downstream die lip 12 and the base material film 11 is D<SB>2</SB>[μm], and the chip width of the downstream die lip 12 is H<SB>2</SB>[mm], the following formulas (1) and (2): 0.5<H<SB>2</SB>-(0.85×R) (1), and -20<D<SB>1</SB>-D<SB>2</SB><20 (2) are to be satisfied.
