<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress media from being stacked before a developer fixed to the medium is sufficiently fixed with a simple configuration. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus U includes: stacking containers TRh1 and TRh2 on which media S are stacked; a temperature distribution detecting means for detecting the temperature distribution of the surface of each recording medium S; an overlap high-temperature part determining means for determining based on the temperature distribution whether a high temperature part S1 of a medium S stacked on each of the stacking containers TRh1 and TRh2 overlaps a high temperature part S1' of a medium S stacked on each of the stacking containers TRh1 and TRh2 immediately before the previous one; and an overlap high-temperature part stack reduction control means for stacking the media S such that if the high temperature parts S1 and S1' overlap, the high temperature part S1 of the medium S stacked on each of the stacking containers TRh1 and TRh2 is displaced from the high temperature part S1' of the corresponding medium stacked immediately before it.
