PURPOSE: A GUI providing method and a multimedia device applying the same for operating an item are provided to operate the item conveniently by providing information to the user by using a touch screen. CONSTITUTION: GUI A GUI providing method and a multimedia device applying the same for operating an item generates a line connecting a first item and a second item if a generating command about the first item and the second item is generated(S250). If a part of line is selected, a third item capable of moving the screen is generated in the selected area(S320).
