PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently cool a lamp and to enough lower the temperature of the air which has cooled the lamp. SOLUTION: This image projector includes: a cooling fan 14; air guide passages 15, 16 for guiding the air from the cooling fan to the inside of a reflector 42 of the lamp 1; an intake port 21c formed in a casing of the image projector; light shielding means 600a, 210c for shielding the light directing from the lamp to the intake port 21c; and an exhaust port 24a formed in the casing. The air which is sucked from the intake port and passed through an area facing the outer surface of the reflector is discharged together with the air passing through the inside of the reflector to the outside of the casing through the exhaust port.
