<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel cord which is used for reinforcing a rubber article and has three or four non-twisted parallel core wires, wherein a rubber can be impregnated between the three or four non-twisted parallel core wires to improve the durability of the rubber article, especially a tire, and to provide a method for producing the same. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Provided is the steel cord which comprises three or four core wires 2 arranged in parallel without being twisted and three sheath wires 1 twisted on the periphery of the core and is used for reinforcing the rubber article, characterized by twisting the sheath wires and then passing the obtained cord through three or more flat rolls whose contact surfaces with the cord are flat, thereby processing the cord.
