<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet conveying device, and image recorder capable of reliably preventing the sheet feeding operation after any sheet feed error occurs from being impaired by a reversely conveyed sheet. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A recording paper sheet is discharged from conveying passages 23, 27 to a paper discharge tray 21 by a pair of conveying rollers 59 and a pair of discharging rollers 64. According to the feeding operation of the recording paper sheet by a paper feed roller 25, a conveying roller 60 of the pair of conveying rollers 59 and a paper discharge roller 62 of the pair of paper discharge rollers 64 are synchronously rotated in the second directions 113, 114. A control unit 100 synchronously rotates the conveying roller 60 and the paper discharge roller 62 which are rotated in the second directions 113, 114 in the first directions 111, 112 on the condition that any feed error of the recording paper sheet occurs in the feeding operation.
