<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly handle a situation where a shift position sensor is determined as abnormal. <P>SOLUTION: When a shift position sensor is decided as abnormal, and the operation position of a shift lever is not changed, an engine or two motors are controlled so that a vehicle can travel with a driving force based on a shift position SP and required torque Tr* set just before the shift position sensor fails (steps S110 to S140), and the engine or the two motors are controlled so that the required torque Tr* becomes 0 when the operation position of the shift lever is changed (steps S110 and S170).
