PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple cord-type capacitance sensor which exhibits a function as a capacitance-type proximity sensor at a high level, functions also as a touch sensor, and is so flexible that it can be easily attached in conformity to various bent shapes. SOLUTION: The sensor 1 includes: detection electrodes A and B that detect a change in capacitance; and a shield electrode S, having a substantially U-shaped cross-section orthogonal to a long side of the sensor 1, which restricts a detection range of capacitance. The detection electrodes A and B and the shield electrode S are disposed along the long side, the detection electrodes A and B being disposed in positions near and close to an opening made in the shield electrode S, respectively. Each electrode is made of a conducting flexible body, the electrodes being kept away from one another in a natural state. When the sensor 1 is pressed from a direction of detection by making contact with an object, the detection electrodes A and B and/or the detection electrodes A and B and the shield electrode S come in contact and conductive with each other, and the electrodes become coupled together by nonconducting flexible bodies 2 and 3 so that the contact with the object can be detected.
