<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for sorting crystal capable of automatically discriminating a desired crystal and enhanced in the recovery of the good crystal. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The apparatus for sorting crystal is equipped with: three cameras 1, 2 and 3; three illuminators 1r, 2r and 3r; an operational processor having a determining part for determining the quality of the crystal using the photographed images due to the cameras; a supply stage 6 on which the crystal D1 is placed; a pasting stage 7 on which the crystal D2 determined to be a good article by the determining part is pasted; and a suction collet 5 (holding means) for holding one crystal D1 to feed it to the stage 7 from the stage 6. In a quality determining preparatory process, the crystal D1 illuminated by the illuminator 1r or the illuminator 2r is photographed by the camera 1 and the obtained image is used to detect the placing direction of the crystal D1 or the area of the specific surface of the crystal D1. By using a low permeable light source, of which the permeability to the crystal D1 is below 70%, as the illuminators 1r and 2r, a good image can be acquired and the recovery of the good crystal is enhanced.
