<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an overtube of an endoscope capable of being optionally attached to a flexible insertion part of the endoscope during the endoscopy, rich in convenience, and easy to use. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The overtube of the endoscope is equipped with: a spiral tube 1 formed into a cylindrical form by spirally winding a strip-like elastic member so as to spirally form a gap 1a whose width is larger than the outer diameter of the flexible insertion part 10 of the endoscope, which freely permits the insertion and drawing-out of the flexible insertion part 10 of the endoscope, over the total length of the spiral tube 1; and a gap closing member 3 locked with the part of the gap 1a in a freely detachable manner so as to close the gap 1a of the spiral tube 1.
