<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a hoop, which can enhance the accuracy of the peripheral length of the hoop in nitriding treatment. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This manufacturing method comprises the steps of: forming the hoop 11 that forms a belt, with a hoop forming means 2; making a sensor 7 measure a state of an atmosphere in a nitriding treatment means 5; inputting the state of the atmosphere into a calculating means 9; and making the calculating means 9 call a correcting expression which is stored in a memory means 8 and is used for calculating a correcting amount of the hoop according to the state of the atmosphere in the nitriding treatment means 5, calculate a correcting amount of the peripheral length according to the state of the atmosphere, and output the correcting amount of the peripheral length into a peripheral length correcting means 3; making the peripheral length correcting means 3 correct the peripheral length of the hoop 11 based on the corrected amount of the peripheral length; making a loading means 4 load the hoop 11 having the corrected peripheral length onto a holder 10; and nitriding the hoop 11 loaded on the holder 10 by using the nitriding treatment means 5.
