<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fishing reel designed to improve its own operability by miniaturizing the reel as a whole through improving a fishing reel equipped with a click mechanism on the reel body. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The fishing reel includes such a level winding mechanism that a spool is rotatably fitted via a spool shaft onto the reel body composed of a frame and side plates fitted respectively onto the left and right side frames of the frame, thereby uniformly winding fishline around the spool in conjunction with the winding operation of a handle, and a click mechanism functioning to inform the spool's rotation. The click mechanism is formed of a click gear fitted to the spool shaft so as not to rotate, an engagement pawl engaged to the click gear, and a circular resilient holder for resiliently holding the engagement pawl, and openings are provided on the side frames, and the click gear, the engagement pawl, and the circular resilient holder are disposed in the openings.
