The device has a piston movable between a retracted position and an extended position in a housing (2). The piston comprises a rear section (3), a front section (4) and a middle section (5) arranged between the rear and front sections. A work space (6) is formed between the middle section and the housing. A fluid channel (7) passes fluid e.g. nitrogen, into the work space. The piston moves from the retracted position to the extended position when the fluid is passed into the workspace. A gap for leaking fluid is formed between the piston and the housing, in the extended position of the piston.
