<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a large-capacity vacuum circuit breaker which can promote current shutdown capacity and increase a rated current. Ž<P>SOLUTION: At least two vacuum circuit breaker units 1A, 1B are arranged side by side in parallel connection, and circuit breaking operation is carried out with a single common operating device 10 for the vacuum circuit breaker units 1A, 1B. Each of the vacuum circuit breaker units 1A, 1B is equipped with vertical magnetic field generating means which generates a vertical magnetic field when an operation to shutdown current is performed. The vertical magnetic field generating means consists of vertical magnetic field electrodes 3, 4 in a vacuum container 2 of vacuum circuit current breaker units 1A, 1B, and an external coil 11 installed on an external surface of the vacuum container 2.
