摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color separation optical system capable of reducing ghost flare as compared with the conventional wavelength selection technique using a trimming filter with a dichroic film and capable of obtaining characteristics similar to ideal spectroscopic characteristics in such a state that respective colors are well-balanced to improve color reproduction. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The color separation optical system is constituted such that a curve exhibiting a characteristic of blue color light reflecting dichroic film DB and a curve exhibiting a characteristic of red color light reflecting dichroic film DR have shapes formed along an ideal characteristic curve of spectroscopic characteristic of green color. Further, the intersecting point of the characteristic curve of the blue color light reflecting dichroic film DB and the characteristic curve of the red color light reflecting dichroic film DR is set to be a prescribed value within the prescribed wavelength range such that spectroscopic characteristics of the respective colors become well-balanced. As the result, in particular, the deterioration in transmittance of green color is prevented and the spectroscopic characteristics of the respective colors can be well-balanced.
