PURPOSE: A character input device is provided to input data in a small area by distinguishing the in-direction and out-direction of inputted signal through an input unit. CONSTITUTION: A character input device equipped with a plurality of the direct input keys(10). The four input keys arranged having a separation distance which mutually equal by 4 directions from a center. Each input key is prepared as mobile towards a plurality of directing positions. An input unit is included to perform the direction motion input which inputs the allocated character.
