<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a golf ball 2 excellent in a carrying performance. <P>SOLUTION: The golf ball 2 has a core 4, a cover 6 and many dimples 8. The cover 6 has a thickness less than 3.0 mm and hardness H3≥90. A difference (H2-H1) between the surface hardness H2 of the core 4 and the center hardness H1 of the core 4 is≥10 and≤25. A difference (H3-H1) between the hardness H3 of the cover 6 and the center hardness H1 of the core 4 is≥25. A difference (H3-H2) between the hardness H3 of the cover 6 and the surface hardness H2 of the core 4 is≥10 and≤20. When the average diameter of all the dimples 8 is defined as Da, the ratio (N1/N) of the number N1 of adjacent dimple pairs whose pitch is≤(Da/4) to the total number N of the dimples is≥2.70.
