PURPOSE: A damping unit for refrigerator and a refrigerator having the same are provided to reduce the installation space of the damping unit on a home bar door of the refrigerator. CONSTITUTION: A refrigerator includes a cabinet, a door, an auxiliary door, and a damping unit(100). The door has an opening and opens and closes the front side of the cabinet. The auxiliary door opens and closes the opening of the door. The damping unit is combined with a hinge shaft of the auxiliary door to control the opening/closing speed of the auxiliary door. The damping unit includes a case(111), a rotating member(113) installed to rotate inside the case, oil filled inside the case to apply rotation resistance to the rotating member, a fixing member(130) which is combined with one end(114a) of the rotating shaft of the rotating member to rotate along with the rotation of the rotating member, and an elastic member(150) which is provided between the case and the fixing member to apply a force opposite to the direction the auxiliary door is opened to the fixing member.
