PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink cartridge mounting device which is capable of preventing a detection part on the lower side from being contaminated with ink dropping from an air communication hole. SOLUTION: An optical sensor 230 provided in the ink cartridge mounting device 8 includes: an arm 232 which is extended from a base part 232b connected to the back wall surface 222 of a cartridge mounting part 9 to the part to be detected 186 of a cartridge 10 facing the back wall surface 222; and photodetection parts 233 and 234 provided in the top end portion 232c of the arm 232.
