PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide base paper for a paper vessel which has a high penetration resistance in cross-section to restrain an acid aqueous solution from penetrating from the cross-section of the base paper when contents are beverages and food containing an acid aqueous solution. SOLUTION: In the base paper for a paper vessel which is made of a monolayer, a specimen made by pasting a polyester adhesive film containing a coniferous tree bleached kraft pulp accounting for less than 50 wt.%, having a thickness of 30 μm to both sides of the base paper, and shaped into a 10.0 cm by 10.0 cm square is expected to cause no break (pinhole) in a resin laminate layer when folded into two and pressurized by a nipping device at a passage speed of 50 m/min at a nipping pressure of 50 kN/m, whether it is folded into two, using the MD axis direction or the CD axis direction of the specimen as a folding axis. A specimen made by pasting the polyester adhesive film having the thickness of 30 μm to both sides of the base paper and shaped into a 10.0 cm by 10.0 cm square, is expected to show an increase in weight of less than 5 wt.% when it is immersed in an organic acid aqueous solution adjusted to 23°C and a pH of 4 for five hours.
