<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable stable oscillation to be performed under a desired oscillation mode when adjusting the frequency of an oscillator, by placing a metal plate between a dielectric resonator and a nonlinear element which are placed on a substrate and covered with a metal case. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The oscillator includes: a substrate 1; a ground 2; a nonlinear element 3; a first microstrip line connecting one end to the first terminal of the nonlinear element and connecting the other end to the ground; a second microstrip line connected to the second terminal of the nonlinear element; a dielectric resonator; a metal case; and a frequency adjusting screw, and can adjust the frequency by turning the frequency adjusting screw, wherein, the metal plate is placed so as to be connected to the inner wall surface of the metal case to secure the oscillation mode of the oscillator when turning the frequency adjusting screw, and to be connected to the ground in a direction nearly orthogonal to the first microstrip line, between the nonlinear element and the dielectric resonator.
