<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an applicator which applies a coating material by separating a rotating body from a coating face via comb teeth in one usage, and directly applies the coating material on the coating face from the rotating body in the other usage. <P>SOLUTION: The applicator includes the rotating body 3d for holding the coating material and applying it on the coating face, a comb tooth part 3e having a plurality of comb teeth arranged side by side along the axial line of the rotating body 3d at one position sandwiching the rotating body 3d, and a protrusion 3f lower than the comb tooth part 3e extending along the axial line of the rotating body 3d at the other position sandwiching the rotating body 3d. Viewing from the axial line direction of the rotating body 3d, a part of the rotating body 3d protrudes to the outside of a segment A connecting the comb tooth part 3e and the protrusion 3f. When the applicator 3 is leaned and moved so that the comb tooth part 3e side touches the coating face, the coating material is applied in a state that the rotating body 3d is separated from the coating face via the comb tooth part 3e in between.
