<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve operability in inserting a cartridge by disengaging a cleaning member from the cartridge when the cartridge is set in an image forming position. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus has a removable cartridge 7 inserted in a rotary axis direction of a photosensitive drum, a long cover glass 31 transparent to light emitted toward the photosensitive drum, the cleaning member 20 movable for cleaning the cover glass 31, and a latch member 50 for pressing the cartridge 7 toward an image forming position. As the cartridge 7 is inserted, the cleaning member 20 is engaged with the cartridge 7 and moved along the cover glass 31 to clean the cover glass 31. When the cartridge 7 further inserted after the cleaning strikes the latch member 50, the latch member 50 is moved to disengage the cleaning member 20 from the cartridge 7. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
