PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cold rolling method which allows uniform surface glossiness in the case the metal band of a stainless steel, a high carbon steel or the like is subjected to high speed rolling using an aqueous lubricant. SOLUTION: Upon the cold rolling of a stainless steel or a high carbon steel, a chromium-plated roll is used, as a work roll, having a roll size of≤150 mm, and further, an aqueous solution is used, as a coolant, comprising 1 to 15 mass% polyalkylene glycol with the weight average molecular weight of 500 to 4,000, and the cloud point of 30 to 65°C.
