SCANNING METHOD OF RADIO BEAM AND RFID COMMUNICATION EQUIPMENT USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To raise a reading rate of a tag and the like in a scanning method of a radio beam and in RFID communication equipment using the method.

SOLUTION: A two-dimensional phased array antenna 10 is constituted of a plurality of dense antenna element arrays and a plurality of loose antenna element arrays orthogonal to them. A scan control part 20 controls vertical phase shifters 16iand horizontal phase shifters 18ijso that a phase of a signal applied to each antenna element in the dense antenna element arrays and a phase of a signal applied to each antenna element in the loose antenna element arrays are smoothly and finely moved in a vertical direction and they coarsely move in right/left directions on a wave face of a radio wave with which an object is irradiated from the two-dimensional phased array antenna. The reading signals are supplied to the vertical phase shifters 16iand the horizontal phase shifters 18ijfrom a reader body 12.
