PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a light-emitting device having a satisfactorily deposited carrier transport layer. SOLUTION: The light-emitting device includes a lower electrode 120 disposed in a matrix shape along a first direction and a second direction perpendicular to the first direction on a substrate 110, and a bank 130 having a first portion provided along the first direction while surrounding the first electrode 120 and a second portion provided along the second direction. A surfactant-contained coating liquid obtained by making a coating liquid for forming a hole transport layer contain the surfactant is continuously applied along the second direction while straddling the first portion, or along the first direction while straddling the second portion to form a carrier transport layer.
