METHOD OF RELAYING TRACE REQUEST FOR OPERATION MAINTENANCE MANAGEMENT, MANAGEMENT RELAY POINT DEVICE, AND PROGRAM

<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of relaying a trace request for operation maintenance management etc., so that the trace request functions even when an Ethernet-OAM nonconforming switch device is arranged on a network. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A switch system includes a switch device which relays layer 2 frames including VIDs (VLAN-ID) among a plurality of ports and a management relay point device connected to one port of the switch device. The management relay point device and switch device previously store two VIDs for management. The switch device outputs a layer 2 frame having a multicast address as a destination address and a first VID for management as a VID to the port where the management relay point device is connected. Then the management relay point device switches a VID of a trace request to a second VID for management and outputs it to a port connected to the switch device.
