PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound absorbing material for preventing reflection of an ultrasonic wave by the water surface, measuring a flow rate in the state of a natural flow up to the vicinity of the water surface, and contributing to improvement of accuracy for flow rate measurement by an ultrasonic flowmeter in an open conduit, and to provide the ultrasonic flowmeter using the sound absorbing material. SOLUTION: This sound absorbing material used for the ultrasonic flowmeter equipped with an ultrasonic wave transmission means for allowing incidence of an ultrasonic wave into fluid in the open conduit from a channel bottom surface; an ultrasonic wave reception means for receiving an echo obtained by reflection of the incident ultrasonic wave; a fluid velocity distribution measuring means for processing the received echo, and measuring a flow velocity distribution of the fluid; and a flow rate operation means for operating the flow rate of the fluid based on the flow velocity distribution, includes a body part for absorbing the ultrasonic wave, a floating assistance part for floating and arranging the body part in the vicinity of the water surface, and a connection part with an external fixing object for staying on a prescribed position. A bottom surface of the body part is formed to have a shape of a curved surface having a radius of curvature for reducing a frictional resistance to a fluid flow. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
