<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a DLC-coated tool having low cutting resistance, and exhibiting high wear resistance without generating defect such as chipping. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the DLC-coated tool, a DLC film not substantially containing hydrogen is formed on a substrate. The DLC film has S band as a characteristic band having a peak between 1,000-1,200 cm<SP>-1</SP>in Raman spectroscopic spectral using a laser having a wavelength of 632.8 nm, an area intensity ratio Sd/Sg of D band and G band is 0.8 or less, and any peak intensity ratio Is/Id and area intensity ratio Ss/Sd of the S band and the D band are 0.15 or more. A ratio Np/t of the number Np (number/mm<SP>2</SP>) of a projection having a diameter of 0.1 μm or more on the surface of the DLC film and film thickness t (mm) is made to 1.5×10<SP>8</SP>or less, and a ratio Nh/t of the number Nh of a recession part having a diameter of 0.1 μm or more and the film thickness t is made to 1.0×10<SP>8</SP>or less.
