<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell stack having a structure capable of coping with flooding and drying out under natural diffusion or a flow of a minimum oxidizer. <P>SOLUTION: This fuel cell stack is composed by stacking a plurality of cells each including: a membrane-electrode assembly with a fuel electrode and an oxidizer electrode arranged on both sides of a solid polymer electrolyte membrane; an oxidizer passage formation member arranged on the oxidizer electrode side and having an opening for supplying an oxidizer; and a separator arranged in contact with a surface facing a surface contacting the oxidizer electrode of the oxidizer passage formation member. At least partial cells in the plurality of cells constituting the fuel cell stack have each a water-absorbing member having a surface exposed to the atmosphere in a part where the oxidizer passage formation member and the separator contacts each other, and the area of the surface of the water-absorbing member exposed to the atmosphere of the cell relatively set at low temperature in the stacked cells is set larger than that of the cell relatively set at high temperature. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
