<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a range switching device which can be compact in size by devising an arrangement of each part. <P>SOLUTION: A range switching device 1 comprises a motor 4 controlled based on a shift range selected by an operator, a converting mechanism 5 converting a rotational motion of the motor 4 into a linear motion, and an arm member 6 converting the linear motion converted by the converting mechanism 5 into a rocking motion. Furthermore, the motor 4 is arranged between a base end 6A of the arm member 6 and the converting mechanism 5, and an axial direction of the converting mechanism 5 and an axial direction of the motor 4 are arranged in parallel.
